    Welcome

We are just a little different and we think you are going to really like what we have to offer. We believe in a “wild” style of learning. Children learn at a slower pace, like the river itself. Learning happens naturally.

“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day”.

     AA Milne, “Winnie-the-Pooh”.

    About Us

    Who are we?

Why are we passionate about this?

Why are we passionate about this?

We are a Montessori/Waldorf based nature pre-school, dedicated to teaching ages 3-6 in a non-traditional way.
While a good portion of our learning takes place outsIde, we have recently moved into a building that we are renovating. It is a work in progress, but we love how it has turned out so far. It is furnished with wooden furniture, cozy rugs, plants, and Montessori/ Waldorf learning materials.

As former Montessori teachers, we knew that offering an exceptional Montessori education to the area was important to us. We also draw inspiration from Charlotte Mason, Waldorf, Reggio, and the Forest school model. Studies have shown overwhelming benefits physically and emotionally, when children are free to explore outdoors. We believe in letting children be children. We believe in mud pies, climbing trees, long walks, and imaginative play.
Children are showing more anxiety, stress, and health issues; because they are spending less time outside. We want to change that. Research has shown that nature not only improves a child’s health, but it improves their ability to learn as well.

    How does this work?

You may wonder how we offer a nature program if our building is at the riverfront?

We have a beautiful yard with grass and trees, that also has raised garden beds, sand boxes, and places to climb, build, and run. We also utilize local parks, nature areas, and green spaces. We can’t think of anything better than splashing in creeks, building forts, and exploring nature.
